ORGANISATIONAL SET UP
FUNCTIONS
The Directorate of Geology and Mining has started functioning since the formation of the State in the year 1960 and has been working since then as
independent organisation directly under the Industries department of Industries, Energy and Labour Department of Govt. of Maharashtra, Mantralaya, Mumbai.
ORGANISATIONAL SET UP OF THE DIRECTORATE
At present, the Directorate of Geology and Mining consists of a Head Office at Nagpur under the Director of Geology and Mining, who functions as the State
level head of the organisation.
The Directorate has, at present, 4 Regional Offices located at Nagpur, Chandrapur, Kolhapur and Aurangabad. The regional offices at Nagpur Chandrapur are
headed by Senior Deputy Director and Kolhapur, Aurangabad are headed by the Deputy Directors. The Directorate has a well equipped Chemical Laboratory at Nagpur to carry out analysis of Coal and other minerals, ores, and petrological laboratory for rock studies at Nagpur. The total sanctioned strength which
comprises of 480 Officers and Staff. Out of which some of the technical officers are posted at various collectorate as District Mining officer to assist
the Collectors for mineral administration work.
