Right to Information Act, 2005

In order to promote transparency in government working and to create responsible administration for securing access to maximum information of government by citizens, the Government of India has formulated the Right to Information Act, 2005. As per Sections 5(1), 5(2), and 19 of the Act, Government Information Officers have been appointed as follows.

In tune to this act as per directives of Govt. of Maharashtra Directorate has appointed government information officer vide its orderdated 20/9/2005.

In order to promote transparency in government working and create responsible administration to secure access to maximum information of government working by citizens, Govt. of India has made Right to information Act – 2005 applicable from 15/6/2005 and will come in to effect from 12/10/2005 as informed vide circular under reference.

As per provision of section 5 (1), 5(2) and 19 of above said Act, in order to give information to citizens, appointment of officers from this Directorate as government information officer, Asst. Government information officer and appellate authority is to be done. Accordingly following officers from Head Office and Regional Offices/ Branch Office of this Directorate have been appointed postwise as government information officer and Asst. Government information officer.

As per section 19 of above Act, appellate authority is to be appointed. Accordingly Joint Director (Establishment) has been appointed as appellate authority for Directorate of Geology and Mining.

Concerned Officers/Staff of Directorate should give immediately accurate necessary information as and when required to Government information officer and Asst. Government Information Officer and co-operate with them.

As per provisions under the Act it will be the responsibility of concerned officers/staff to follow all the provisions of Right to information Act – 2005 Govt. of India scrupulously.
